Catholic schools: Faith for a brighter future!

Consider this…

Always be glad because of the Lord!  I will say it again:  Be glad.  Always be gentle with others.  The Lord will soon be here.
Don't worry about anything, but pray about everything. With thankful hearts offer up your prayers and requests to God.  Then, because you belong to Christ Jesus, God will bless you with peace that no one can completely understand. And this peace will control the way you think and feel.
Finally, my friends, keep your minds on whatever is true, pure, right, holy, friendly, and proper.  Don't ever stop thinking about what is truly worthwhile and worthy of praise.

Philippians 4:4-8

Santa Fe

St. Michael Catholic High School
100 Siringo Road, Santa Fe NM 87505 • (505) 983-7353

Mission Statement
The purpose of St. Michael School is to offer young men and women an educational program that is consistent with the values of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, that adheres to the faith and practice of the Catholic Church, and that prepares the students intellectually and culturally for productive citizenship and individual fulfillment.

Academic Program
Each year, 85-90% of our graduating students matriculate to an institution of higher learning, including some of the finest universities in the nation. The curriculum is basically college preparatory, although a terminal high school program is also offered. Both programs are intended to lead to a high school diploma. Faculty are well grounded in teaching skills and in the subjects they present. Staff and faculty instill an orientation toward learning that reveals God at work in nature and in human relationships.

Religious Goal
Our primary goal as educators of youth is that defined by St. John Baptist De La Salle: "The young people in our care shall learn to commit themselves to the teachings of the Gospel as seen in the life of Jesus Christ. It is also our desire that the students develop a love of the Church and its practices, observations, and teachings."

Academic and Social Goals
Productive citizenship and individual fulfillment require an education that values lifelong learning, active social participation, and physical health and fitness.

  • Academically, our goals are that our students will communicate effectively, understand scientific methods and principles, know the history and geography of the world, understand the political and economic life of the nation, appreciate the fine arts, and possess a cultural literacy that provides a common reference point with other educated people.
  • Socially, our students will respect the dignity of each person and seek to love their neighbors as themselves. They will give of their time and goods freely and charitably, for the benefit of the poor.

Independent research on Catholic schools consistently points to their success in educating students to the highest standards of scholarship and moral and social responsibility, often under pressing economic conditions. We believe that our nation can learn much from what we do and how we approach this most important endeavor.
