Employment
Procedures
The Catholic Schools Office (CSO) coordinates the recruitment and hiring of
licensed personnel. All full- and part-time faculty, administrators,
educational assistants and substitute teachers are processed for employment
through the
Catholic Schools Office.
Support staff who are not directly involved in the classroom should contact the
school or parish of their choice for availability of positions, the archdiocesan
application packet and an interview. The local pastor approves all employees
hired at a Catholic school.
How to Apply:

Job Application Form.
This includes:

Criminal History Affidavit

eligibility (I-9)
-
Provide
us with a copy of your current teaching license. (Find out more about

us with a copy of your transcripts (unofficial copies are acceptable until
an offer of employment is made).

If your application is approved, and a school notifies us of an
opening for which you are qualified, we will forward your application to the
school for an interview. If you accept an offer of employment, you will be
required to submit official transcripts. Within 24 hours of accepting a
position with our Catholic Schools, you must have a drug and alcohol screening
test. Also after accepting a position, you must attend the Abuse awareness
training. Finally, within the first six months of employment, you will be
required to attend a workshop to learn about protection from blood borne
pathogens, and new employee requirements.
Employment is conditional on reports that meet archdiocesan standards for all of
these requirements. (This process is summarized in our application
cover letter. Regular volunteers in Catholic schools also must
undergo a pre-employment drug and alcohol
screening and the abuse awareness training.)

Contracts & Salary Scales for Licensed
Personnel
The Catholic Schools Office coordinates and distributes the approved contracts
and salary scales for elementary school principals, vice principals and teachers
for the upcoming school year. Salaries for other school personnel, including
the substitute teacher pay rate, are determined by the parish/school.
At the time a contract is offered, the principal will show the prospective
employee the approved salary scale for the current year and discuss the salary
structure, which is based on lanes (education) and steps (years of service).
Since the first step is 0 years of experience, the employee's step will always
be one less than the total number of years served in the system. Faculty are
allowed to transfer up to five years of relevant experience upon hire;
principals may transfer up to ten years of relevant experience upon hire. Lanes
are based on official transcripts, which must be provided to the CSO upon hire.
The contract must be signed by the employee, the principal, the pastor and the
superintendent. The superintendent cannot sign a contract until the employee's
personnel file at the CSO is current and complete.
Changes to personal information must be reported to the CSO immediately,
including name or address changes or changes that may affect the employee's
salary lane at the time a contract is offered. For salary information for any
position, please contact the CSO.
CURRENT RECRUITMENT NEEDS
Our peak period for faculty recruitment is April through September. Contracts
for current faculty are offered at the end of the school year (around mid-May).
At this time, each school determines recruitment needs for the next school
year. Because plans often change, recruitment continues into and throughout the
school year. Even when no school actively is recruiting, the CSO accepts
resumes and maintains files for prospective personnel. In the event that a need
arises for someone with your endorsements, we will inform the school with the
opening, and the school will contact you for an interview. Your applicant file
will remain active in our office for two years.
(Openings
are grouped by the school posting them -- be sure to scroll all the way down for
the complete list.)
(Updated: 1/21/10)
Job postings are updated as necessary. You may contact the Catholic Schools
Office to open an application file at any time of year, regardless of whether
any openings are available. If an opening should arise for which you are
qualified, we will contact the school with the opening. If you would like to
work for a particular school and do not see any openings posted here, you
may contact the school directly and request that your resume be kept on file;
just be sure that the Catholic Schools Office also has a file on you.
The Archdiocese of Santa Fe Catholic School System does not discriminate on the
basis of race, color, gender or national origin.
